Modelling the impact of Urban Heat Island mitigation strategies on Urban Air Quality

چکیده
Increasing urban sprawl has caused many severe problems like surge in pollution, rapid climatical variations, and the intensification of temperature areas, termed Urban Heat Islands (UHI). Population density theconversion most land areas into cities, cities have expanded vastly. UHI phenomenon rise cities. Most metropolitan regions India are experiencing consequences severity pollution formation, which is a crucial research area. Since rising direct linkage with air pollution; mitigation measures for also linked mitigation; efficacy correlation quality being studied extensively, emphasizesthescientific approach planning concerns implementation agency to consider same design aspects. Ahmedabad one growing India. The city grown economically physically by expanding its boundaries radial pattern. This study attempted temporal assessment remote sensing data derive city's growth, changing uses. Assessment been performed from2008 2018 from Landsat profile at surface level type usage spatial Particulate Matter (PM2.5 PM10) generated based on state control board. Four variables, LST, PM2.5, PM10, LULC, taken establish relationship between all variables present different layers withthehelp regression statistical analysis. A strong positive LST discovered, was eventually used assess impact strategies UHI, specifically greening white roof particulate matter concentrations.

The urban heat island Mitigation Impact Screening Tool (MIST)
A web-based screening tool has been developed to assist urban planners and air quality management officials in assessing the potential of urban heat island mitigation strategies to affect the urban climate, ozone air quality, and energy consumption within their cities. The user of the screening tool can select from any of over 200 US cities for which to conduct the analysis. The mitigation stra...
متن کاملThe effectiveness of cool and green roofs as urban heat island mitigation strategies
Mitigation of the urban heat island (UHI) effect at the city-scale is investigated using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model in conjunction with the Princeton Urban Canopy Model (PUCM). Specifically, the cooling impacts of green roof and cool (white/highalbedo) roof strategies over the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area during a heat wave period (7 June–10 June 2008) are assess...
متن کاملEvidence of the effect of an urban heat island on air quality near a landfill
In Guadeloupe (French West Indies), the main municipal solid waste is surrounded by highly urbanized areas. An urban heat island (UHI) behavior has been identified in the landfill environment. It has been measured and its intensity (up to more than 4 C) has been shown to be negatively correlated with nebulosity and Tradewinds strength. Conditions for urban breeze detection have been examined. T...
متن کاملUrban Heat Island: Causes, Effects and Mitigation Measures - A Review
High temperature in the city centers than its’ surroundings known as the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, which is causing discomfort to the urban dwellers in the summer time is gaining much attention around the world because the world is getting urbanized as it advances in technology. Alterations of surface area, improper urban planning, air pollution, etc. are causing this increasingly growing...
متن کاملUrban Heat Island
We are all familiar with the fact that cities are generally warmer than the surrounding, more rural areas. We see it referenced most nights in our television weather reports. It is especially significant on nights with clear skies and light winds which favor radiational cooling. This is most significant in the rural areas but in the city, the excess heat absorbed during the day and the local he...
